Members of the Pleasant Grove VFD welcomed a new truck to their department on Feb. 7. Through an agreement with the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS), PGVFD accepted a former Department of Defense cargo truck that will be repurposed for fire suppression and emergency response. PGVFD will have the 2.5 ton vehicle turned into a brush truck by adding a slip-on unit, which will include at least a 500 water tank and 250 gallon per minute pump, to the truck and having it painted.

As part of the agreement with TFS, the department must complete the truck’s conversion in 180 days. Other requirements by TFS include PGVFD obtaining insurance for the truck and keeping it sheltered from the elements. TFS has also awarded PGVFD with a grant to cover the cost of a slip-on unit up to $20,000.
